The Just Dashes SoftCap Dash Cover is a practical interior refresh for 1970-1972 Pontiac GTO and LeMans owners who want to improve a cracked, faded, or worn dashboard without the cost, downtime, or shipping risk of a full dash restoration.

SoftCap installs over the existing dashboard and provides a cleaner, padded, OEM-inspired appearance. Unlike generic hard plastic dash caps, SoftCap uses padded vinyl with a vehicle-appropriate factory-style grain selected to match or closely resemble the original dash texture.

It is a more refined alternative to a hard plastic dash cap and a strong option for drivers, weekend cars, resale prep, and classic interiors that need a more finished look.

Key Features

  • Padded vinyl dash cover for a more finished feel than a hard plastic overlay
  • Vacuum formed to tuck under your original glove box door for a factory appearance
  • Available with or without air conditioning provisions
  • Optional provision for the 1972 Pontiac emblem above the glove box door
  • Factory-style vinyl grain selected to match or closely resemble the original dash texture
  • Vacuum formed and made in the USA by Just Dashes
  • No core required
  • Dash removal is usually not required

About the Glove Box Door in Our Photos

The glove box door shown in the product photos is not included. It is fitted for demonstration only, to show how your original glove box door installs back over the SoftCap. The cover is vacuum formed to sit underneath the door, so the finished dash looks the way it did from the factory rather than like a cap laid on top.

You reuse your own glove box door. (NOTE: Glove box door not included)

1972 Emblem Provision

The 1972 dash carries a small Pontiac emblem above the glove box door. If you select With Emblem Provision, your SoftCap is formed with a recess for it, so you can transfer the emblem from your original dash. The emblem itself is not included.

1970 and 1971 dashes do not have this emblem. If that is your car, or you prefer an uninterrupted surface, choose Without Emblem Provision.

Fitment

Fits select 1970-1972 Pontiac GTO and LeMans dashboards. Select your air conditioning and emblem configuration at checkout.

Please confirm your own dash configuration before ordering. Each SoftCap is made to order for the configuration you select. Check whether your dash has air conditioning vents, and whether it carries the emblem above the glove box door.

Product Note

SoftCap is not a full dash restoration or replacement dash pad. It is designed to improve the appearance of an existing dashboard. Severe warping, structural damage, or missing dash sections should be reviewed before ordering.

Frequently Asked Questions

Color Matching and Painting

  • Where do I send the physical color sample for my dash? Please send your color sample with your order number to: Just Dashes, 5941 Lemona Ave., Van Nuys, CA 91411.
  • Why does Just Dashes request a physical color sample? We request a physical color sample to ensure the color match is exact for your custom dash order. Without this process, we cannot guarantee a correct color match.
  • What type of color sample is required? We ask for a color sample from an interior part of your car that reflects the true, original color. Often, customers provide a strip of vinyl that has been shielded from sun exposure.
  • How large does the color sample need to be? The sample does not need to be large. A piece the size of a quarter is sufficient.
